The effect  on his credit rating was pretty disastrous, but things are now being sorted out and the perpetrators are currently being pursued by the Credit Control Departments of the companies that were defrauded.

We have also put in place your suggestions to make it more difficult for someone to do this again, so that when James returns from his sojourn in the United States, his credit rating will be in a reasonable state.
